Local height, not ridge height, drives your drop-length calculation. This is the step most buyers get wrong, because product listings only ever quote maximum drop from ridge.

Off-Center Mounting: The Problem Nobody Mentions
Many vaulted ceilings have a structural mounting point — a beam, a joist, an existing electrical box — that doesn't sit above the center of your table or island. Forcing a straight-drop pendant onto an off-center point creates a visibly crooked hang.
Solution hierarchy, in order of preference:
- Angled canopy kit — redirects the drop to plumb from an off-axis ceiling point (works up to roughly 15° of offset)
- Swag/hook-and-loop routing — the cord or chain is looped to a hook at the true center point, then drops plumb from there
- Custom extended suspension with directional bracket — our approach for offsets beyond 15°, used in the case study above
Each solution requires a different hardware kit. Ordering the wrong one is the second most common cause of installation delay we see.

- Local ceiling height under 10 ft, mounting point centered: standard drop length will almost always work
